We understand that Ensign Crusher failed his exam on Quantum Physics and the Time-Space Continuum because he has spent too much time rolling around in the flowers on the Planet of the Scantily Clad California Blondes.

Here is this week's question:


When the day after tomorrow is yesterday, today will be as far from Wednesday as today was from Wednesday when the day before yesterday was tomorrow. What is the day after this day?

ANSWER:


Thursday

Let's see if I can walk this one through.

For the following, y = yesterday, m = tomorrow, t = today, U = Sunday, M = Monday, T = Tuesday, W = Wednesday, R = Thursday, F = Friday, S = Saturday, E=MC**2 , using + for the day after and - for the day before, and presuming a base time frame of noon EST, a graphical representation of this question might look like this:

     U   M   T   W   R   F   S     Just for argument purposes,
         y-  y   t   m   m+           start with Wednesday as this day.
                         y   t     day after tomorrow is yesterday,
                                           (Wednesday is -3 or +4 away)
     t   m                         day before yesterday was tomorrow, 
                                           (Wednesday is +3 or -4 away)
                     X             day after this day = Thursday.

Srikanth suggested that we "should have special rewards for quick replies. (cracked in 1 min)" That may be a good suggestion, as it often takes longer for L.T.Q. subscribers to crack!
